Charis was compromised three years ago in a scandal by being found naked in bed with a then suitor, named William. Charis's father did not approve of William's background and felt he was not suitable rank for her. Her father was able to hush everyone by sending Charis to Bridlington Manor and having William sent to France. After three years she is sent back home to her aunt, Margaret Winston, which was the first time anyone from family has had contact with her since her ruin. As an offer for marriage has been established for her, she discovers she knows nothing about him since her aunt, nor her father had met him. But if she refuses him, she will be moved back to Bridlington permanently and will reside with a cousin and their family she despises. Since her three year exile, she has grown to love of the care-taking and breeding of horses. She too took the time to discover her personal physical desires and that she was even more determined to live her life the way she would like to rather than following the dictates of her aunt and uncle. Her aunt warns her horses would be sold if she doesn't accept this plan. As they mutual dislike each other, Charis is enraged with her aunt and plans to escape this arrangement and meet up with the friends she made with the Romany, gypsies. On the walk to joining up with the Romany, she is picked up, unknowingly, by her arranged husband to be, St. John Richard Mountford Randall the Third, Sinjun, as he pronounced it. As she tells him her story, he withholds that he is her intended. She proposes to him to 'ruin her some more!' so that the 'lackwit' would withdraw his offer and she would be free.
Sinjun family has been meddling him into marrying again but he is reluctant, since he has been a widow some time and has not considered marriage again since losing his first wife due to an illness and wasn't wanting to be in an arranged marriage again. As he too is a horseman, he found even more interests with Charis and is delightful and enlighten with her her. With exploring each other physically, they could enjoy and get to know each other. As Charis and Sinjun get deeper into their relationship, Sinjun doesn't know if his deception will ruin his chance to be with her, as his wife? And is their love for each other to convince her to marry?
Author Sahara Kelly is a gifted author of writing various lengths and does exceptionally well with bringing a full delightful stories with her shorter works, as she did with Compromising Charis! This book was enjoyed three times for the review! First to read to savor the story, then to read again to get some details, then so had to read a 3rd time in delectable pleasure once again to revisit Charis and Sinjun and their romance! Charis and Sinjun are so much an amusing and fun couple that fit so perfectly in their own ways. With the feverish sensuality, their love sparkled with each other in all ways, personality, wit, physical attraction and definitely, their love for each other. Together, Charis is a strong independent and self-determined, sensuous and too whimsy woman while Sinjun, definitely no lackwit, had a charming personality, suave and seductive handsomely appealing all around, are a couple you won't be able to resist to re-read Compromising Charis by Sahara Kelly again.
